Important Community Update *Code Red Lockdown*

Chief and Council are announcing that as of this evening Lac Seul First Nation has 8 cases in total within the community. With cases growing higher, Chief and Council, along with SLFNA, are declaring an outbreak in Lac Seul First Nation. To keep families safe during this outbreak, all three communities will move to a 14-day Code Red Lockdown in an effort to reduce further possible exposure. The Code Red Lockdown will begin May 1, 2021 to May 14, 2021.

A Code Red Lockdown means the following:

You must stay in your community, please do not travel to other communities during this time

Individuals should only leave their house for essential reasons such as, groceries, picking up medication, medical appointments, etc. The vaccination clinic is considered essential and will continue as planned next week at the Lac Seul Events centre

Limited access to all vehicles at the community checkpoint, except for essential staff, food delivery and emergency services

All education will be virtual

Employees will be working from home

Land-based activities are permitted, such as, walking/hiking, hunting, bike rides, cultural activities, etc. providing that households are not mixing

We understand the current community outbreak can result in a high level of anxiety and stress for many families and would like to remind community members that mental health service providers will be available at the Prevention Program.

As a community we have the power to care for each other and protect the most vulnerable during this time by staying home and following the code red lockdown rules. It is the responsibility of each community member to ensure they are doing their part so that this outbreak can be contained.

Please stay home and stay safe.
