RE: MARCH 6, 2021 LAC SEUL FISHING DERBY

As you know, the Lac Seul Fishing Derby is set to take place on March 6, 2021.

In light of the increased cases of COVID-19 in Treaty Three and Northwestern Ontario, including on Wabaseemoong First Nation, our First Nation had to make a difficult decision about whether or not to cancel the derby. Our top priority is the health and safety of our community.

After much consideration, we have decided to go ahead with the 2021 Lac Seul Fishing Derby. However, in order to reduce the risks posed by COVID-19, it is necessary to restrict those who may participate.

In accordance with provincial health policies and guidelines, including Canada-wide travel restrictions, only participants who currently live in:

1. Lac Seul First Nation;

2. Surrounding communities, such as Sioux Lookout and Hudson

will be permitted to attend. All other persons will be issued a full refund. You will be contacted by a member of the Fish Derby Committee regarding your refund.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. This has been a difficult decision, but we believe it strikes the right balance between preserving our traditions and reducing the spread of COVID-19.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact: Stan Littledeer at 738-5064 or stanlittledeer@lacseulfn.org.

Updated information and rules from the Fish Derby Committee to follow. This is subject to change.

Miigwech for your understanding and patience,

Lac Seul First Nation
