Chief and Council are announcing a new positive COVID-19 case today within the community of Kejick Bay. As of now, Kejick Bay has two positive cases and Whitefish Bay has one positive case. An investigation into possible risk exposures and contact tracing is underway. More details will be provided as Chief and Council and SLFNHA continue to assess the containment of these cases.
Due to the rising number of cases, Chief and Council have decided to move the community colour code system to orange beginning at 12:00 P.M. May 1, 2021. This will take effect for all three Lac Seul communities.
Beginning today, the band office and schools in Whitefish Bay will close and schools will move to virtual learning until further notice. The COVID-19 vaccination clinic will remain open as planned next week at the Lac Seul Events Centre.
In the event more results come back positive, we recommend preparing your household for a possible Level Red Lockdown. As a reminder, The Red Pine store in Kejick Bay and the Golden Eagle in Frenchman’s Head are owned by Fresh Market Foods in Sioux Lookout, and they are willing to deliver groceries to either stores in Lac Seul for families to pick up.
Community members are strongly advised not to pick up any passengers, including hitch hikers. In an effort to reduce the risk of possible exposure it is important to follow provincial and community guidelines.
Kejick Bay clinic will be extending their hours this weekend to accommodate additional COVID-19 testing.
The Kejick Bay clinic will be open Saturday from 9:00A.M. – 12:00P.M.
The Whitefish Bay clinic will be open Saturday from 3:00P.M. – 5:00P.M.
Appointments are preferred however walk-ins will be accepted. Please call Rita Angeconeb at the Kejick Bay clinic (582-9812) to book a COVID-19 test for either location.
The Meno-Ya-Win Emergency Department is also available for testing outside of clinic hours.
Let’s continue to work together to limit possible exposure within the community by staying home and keeping each other safe.
