Chief and Council regret to announce that a tragedy has occurred in our community. As a result, there is an ongoing police investigation. On June 26, 2021 searchers located a deceased, unidentified body approximately 2km south of Whitefish Bay Road. We would like to emphasize that we need to be respectful and patient while the investigation process continues. It is estimated that the investigation will take approximately one week. Out of respect for the families impacted, please do not make any assumptions or social media posts until the investigation is concluded.
We ask that you do not go to the investigation scene. There are highly trained professionals handling the site and we need to give them space to do so.
If you are experiencing any distress and require support, please do not hesitate to contact Prevention Services at (807)582-3805.
If you believe you may have information regarding recent events and have not been interviewed, please contact the Sioux Lookout OPP Detachment at (807)737-2020.
