COVID-19 Update July 9th, 2020

COVID-19 Update

Chief and Council have decided to begin easing some of the restrictions which have been in place during the past few months. These changes will come into effect on Friday July 10. As we begin to return to Level Yellow on LSFN’s COVID-19 Alert Level System, we ask you to remain vigilant and cautious as we work together to keep our communities healthy and safe.

Checkpoint

The bridge will be open to traffic from 7:00AM to 10:00PM daily. The checkpoint will remain in place for the purpose of monitoring and recording incoming traffic only. When you are leaving the community, please be mindful of the safety of our checkpoint staff and drive slowly and carefully through. The First Nation is open to residents and staff only, however, off-reserve band members are welcome to request permission in writing to visit the First Nation. They may do this by emailing samanthakejick@lacseulfn.org.

Travel

Those who have travelled outside of the 100km radius from Lac Seul are no longer required to self-isolate upon their return, but you must self-monitor for symptoms and remain in Northwestern Ontario. If you are required to travel outside of the province for medical purposes, you must self-monitor once you return. We advise you to avoid non-essential travel and urge you to continue to exercise extreme caution anytime you are outside of the community – practice physical distancing and hand hygiene and wear a mask when you are out in public.

We trust that all community members will do their part to keep our communities safe. Please keep in mind that the changes mentioned above are subject to change at the discretion of our leadership. We thank you for your cooperation.
