RE: COVID-19 Community Update #2
FROM:Chief and Council of Lac Seul
Chief and Council want to assure community members that we are constantly monitoring the situation and are implementing the following steps to ensure the safety of our community.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR TRAVELERS AND VISITORS
We ask that anyone who has travelled internationally, or to any hot zone where there are known cases of COVID-19, as well as all visitors to our community, to please identify themselves to one of our clinics. We ask that you call the Frenchman’s Head Health Centre 582-3512, or the Kejick Bay Health Centre 582-9821 where staff will ask a series of questions for screening and will provide you with further information and instruction. Again, we want to emphasize that the FMH and KJB clinics will be open during March Break.
FOOD SUPPLY
To limit the amount of off-reserve travel, we have been in contact with Fresh Market Foods to ensure that Red Pine Store will be stocked with essential items and that their prices will reflect the prices of items at Fresh Market Foods. The first hour of business at Red Pine Store will be for vulnerable people only.
The First Nation is taking steps to ensure that we will have food security, however, we are recommending that people prepare in the event that they will need to self isolate for two weeks. It is recommended that households make a plan to ensure that they have essential supplies in their homes. This includes items such as dried food goods (pasta and rice, canned soups and beans), pet food, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, diapers, tissue, soap, fever reducing medications, paper towels, garbage bags, dish soap, and household cleaning supplies.
RESTRICTED ACCESS TO COMMUNITY
As a precautionary measure, access to the Lac Seul First Nation via logging roads connecting to Lac Seul Road have been temporarily restricted. To access the communities of Lac Seul, please utilize the Frenchman’s Head Road.
CANCELLATION OF COMMUNITY EVENTS
All public events at the Lac Seul Events Centre are cancelled until further notice. Local events which are scheduled to be held in the communities with participants who are community members will take place, unless otherwise instructed.
