Ontario Works Administrator

Summary:

The Lac Seul Ontario Works Administrator will be responsible to administer social assistance to members of Lac Seul First Nation. Duties include supervision/monitoring of participants, case planning, maintain case files and general administration of the program pursuant to the Ontario Works Act in accordance with the existing Provincial Legislation.

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • To determine, intake and review, and process the eligibility for clients for income assistance based on current policies and procedures set by Ministry of Community and Social Services.
  • Prepare correspondence, written reports, statistical reports to the Chief & Council, Director of Ontario Works and other agencies as required.
  • Assist and support clients, take calls from clients and First Nation membership with questions regarding their eligibility status and benefits.
  • Serve as a liaison for the First Nation and all their respective departments.
  • Maintain complete and confidential client information in the data management system.
  • Provide administrative services.
  • Advocate on behalf of the clients.
  • To understand where to support and help through referrals.
  • To provide an accounting and reporting of all programs and assistance provided.
  • To ensure that all recipients receive their funding support on a consistent and regular basis.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalency
  • Post-Secondary Education including Social Courses
  • Able to adapt to an increased workload on a flexible process
  • Create and follow systems of compliance and process to ensure people are looked after
  • Resourceful to locate alternative support and help for situations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs and software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to operate GWA Software is essential
  • Knowledge of Ontario Works Programs is an asset
  • Must have a proficient level of communication skills, verbal and written
  • Must possess excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent and proficient financial skills is essential
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to vehicle
  • Provide a Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check

 

Location:             Frenchman’s Head, Lac Seul First Nation
Rate:                     Dependent on qualifications and experience
Hours:                  35 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Closing:                Wednesday, December 1, 2021 by 4:00pm
