Maintenance Worker


Summary: Lac Seul First Nation is seeking one full-time Maintenance Worker. Under the direction of the Director of Home & Community Care, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for general repairs and preventative maintenance work on the Independent Living Facility including building ramps, grab bars, and other accessibility upgrades, cleaning the area grounds of the facility, repairing ILF furnishings, etc. They will also be responsible for completing accessibility upgrades on Lac Seul First Nation homes.


Key Responsibilities are (but not limited to):

  • Provide on-the-job direction, work assignments, performance monitoring, orientation, and training to casual facility caretakers and summer laborers.
  • Building ramps, grab bars, and other accessibility upgrades for the facility.
  • Repairing furnishings and other preventative maintenance.
  • Assist with repairs and accessibility upgrades on homes of LSFN Elders and individuals requiring assistance.
  • Grass mowing and maintenance.
  • Maintenance of parking lot, and facility furnishings and fixtures.
  • Maintenance of laundry facilities
  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Adhere to relevant health and safety procedures and policies professionally.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Home & Community Care and/or ILF Manager.


  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid “G” Class Ontario Driver’s License and clean three (3) year driving abstract.
  • WHMIS and Health and Safety Training or willingness to obtain.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in maintenance or general labor would be considered an asset.
  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends as required by operational needs.

Location:          Frenchman’s Head, Lac Seul, ON

Term:                  Full-time

Salary:               Wages start at $25.70/hour based on qualifications and experience.

Hours:                8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 35 hours/week 

Closing:             Open until filled.
