Direct Observation Therapy (DOT) Worker
Summary:
Lac Seul First Nation is seeking a Direct Observation Therapy Worker for the community of Frenchman’s Head. Under the direct supervision of the Suboxone Coordinator, the DOT Worker is responsible for providing Suboxone via direct observed therapy.
Main Duties:
- Is trained on how to safely dispense the medication and when not to dispense a dose
- Arranges transport of medication to dispensing site
- Provides a secure environment to dispense medication in an orderly way, with the help of other DOT workers as required
- Is respectful and honest when interacting with clients
- Maintains a high degree of confidentiality with the program and cliental
- Assess weekly urine drug screens (UDS) by collecting samples and using Rapid Response Kits to test samples and record results
- Report incidents, positive UDS, and missed doses to the coordinator promptly
- Documents all doses given daily
- Returns medication to appropriate lock-up site when finished dosing
- Ensure unused doses gets returned to the pharmacy
- Ensure safe and confidential environment while dosing
- Occasional weekend work will be required
- May on occasion be required to participate in outings
- Adhere to all band policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Education in health care, addictions and counselling is a definite asset
- Experience in community programming
- Ability to provide referrals to appropriate services
- Must be on time, dependable, and trustworthy
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License
- Must be willing to take training as directed
- Must hold a very high degree of confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the position
Salary: Wages start at $23.15, Dependent on education and experience.
Term: Permanent Full-time
Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
Location: Frenchman’s Head, Lac Seul, ON
