Consultation Coordinator (1 Year Term)

Summary:

The Consultation Coordinator, under the direction of the Lands Manager, for the Department of Economic Development will be responsible for implementing the work plan for Lac Seul First Nation, responding to consultation requests, and engaging the community on lands and resources. The Consultation Coordinator will pursue training and conference/meeting opportunities on but not limited to the following areas: consultation and negotiation, resource development, technical skills e.g., GIS mapping and drone operation, environmental management, traditional knowledge, and others.

 

Job Duties:

  • Provide accurate word-processing support by composing and/or editing a variety of documents. This includes many highly confidential correspondences, memoranda.
  • Work with the communications team to promote and curate community engagement material of all Lands and Resources content via Lac Seul website and Facebook page.
  • Perform general administration duties; keeping database of all Lands and Resources content on SharePoint, prepare packages for meetings, meeting minutes, briefing notes and agendas, filing, photocopying, answering phones, transcribe recordings.
  • Conduct community meetings, gatherings to share information on consultation or engagement on land and resource matters and related projects (in-person, zoom, etc).
  • Implement work plan, development consultation requests, and engage the community on lands and resources.
  • Develop and maintain well organized filing system that permits easy reference and rapid retrieval of information.
  • Duties may include having to work occasional evenings or weekends in the region.
  • Travel when required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Post-Secondary education in Administration or Business Management preferred.
  • 1-2 years administrative experience preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in the local language would be an asset.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Skilled in the use of Email, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle.

Location:        Frenchman’s Head – Lac Seul First Nation, ON
Rate:                 Wages start at $25.70/hour based on qualifications and experience.
Hours:              35 hours per week (overtime may be required).
Closing:           Open until filled.
