Administrative Assistant



Lac Seul First Nation is seeking an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Prevention Services.  Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Director and Prevention staff to ensure high standards in overall operations and coordination of the programing in Frenchman’s Head, Kejick Bay and Whitefish Bay.


Job Duties:

  • Promptly receive and screen incoming telephone calls to the Prevention Director and staff, provide friendly and professional greeting, taking messages as appropriate, and eliciting necessary information to allow timely and accurate responses.
  • Provide accurate word-processing support by composing and/or editing a variety of documents. This includes many highly confidential correspondences, memoranda.
  • Develop and maintain well organized filing system that permits easy reference and rapid retrieval of information.
  • Arrange travel, hotel and car reservations and prepare itinerary for the Director of Prevention.
  • Coordinate and communicate with staff, outside businesses, vendors, and stakeholders to coordinate meetings.
  • Provide General reception duties to public and staff.
  • Duties may include having to work occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Travel when required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Post-Secondary education in Administration preferred.
  • 1-2 years administrative experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of: Prevention programming/services, Child & Family Services Act/Regulations, local community & family structure, and local customs/traditions is an asset.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Strong commitment to help Anishinaabe families and their children by providing services in ways to respect culture and spiritual practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and respect for Ojibway traditional values, customs, and language.
  • Ability to speak Ojibway an asset.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Skilled in the use of Email, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle.
  • Must be willing to provide a criminal reference check.
  • Ability to work and coordinate with fellow staff effectively and efficiently.

Location:          Kejick Bay, Lac Seul First Nation
Salary:               Wages start at $23.90/hour, based on qualifications and experience.
Hours:               35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Closing:             Open until filled.
