Executive Director

 

Summary: Lac Seul First Nation is seeking an Executive Director to work closely with Chief and Council and to be the administrative lead for the First Nation. Under the direction of the Lac Seul First Nation’s Chief and Council, the Executive Director will be responsible for promoting and ensuring community and program development, planning, managing and oversee of all financial and administrative operational systems, processes and people. This includes acting as the financial and administrative signing officer, budgeting, planning, expenditure control and general administrative policies and procedures.  The Executive Director will also provide leadership, direction and supervision to all members of the management team.

 

The Executive Director is responsible for implementing the Council’s community strategic plans and ensuring that programs and services are effectively delivered, that managers are accountable and that all reporting documents and record keeping is accurately maintained and reported in a timely manner.  The Executive Director acts as a liaison with banking officials, lenders, vendors, funders, auditors, government agencies and officials.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a similar role
  • Post-Secondary Education preferred and/or a combination of education and experience that ensures similar skill level
  • Extensive knowledge of Federal and Provincial funding agencies
  • Strong understanding of the community cultural and political environment within a First Nation Community
  • Sensitivity to First Nation culture and issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent word processing skills and high knowledge level in computer applications; able to accurately and efficiently produce required documents
  • Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Fluency in Ojibway is a definite asset
