The purpose of the Electrical Engineer Technician/Technologist role is to be responsible for technical support/guidance on electrical supply, distribution, and associated hardware. You will also be responsible for the site energy management program.

  • Roster: 5 days on/ 2 days off/ 4 days on/ 3 days off – 9.5 hour shifts

About the role

The Electrical Engineer Technician/Technologist role offers an exceptional opportunity to provide technical direction and support to the electrical team.

Key result areas in this role include:

  • Support planners in developing and updating maintenance strategies, plans, and methods
  • Liase with utilities, regulatory agencies and subject matter experts on projects, shutdowns, and supply of energy
  • Maintain site power system modelling software (etap) and site energy management plan
  • Review new equipment to ensure it meets applicable standards
  • Update AutoCAD drawings and drawing databases related to instrumentation and electrical projects
  • Develop long term site load planning requirements
  • Develop and track energy targets
  • Lead implementation of identified energy projects as requested
  • Pursue utility incentives and outside funding sources for projects

About our Operation

Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes the Red Lake and Campbell underground mining and processing complexes, and Cochenour, a potential new source of ore. As Evolution’s newest asset and our first in North America, we are excited by the opportunities here.

About you

As an Electrical Engineer Technician/Technologist, the ideal candidate will be a Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:

  • CEM, CMVP, PMP accreditation (or willingness to achieve) preferred
  • Professional Engineering designation is an asset
  • Thorough working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, CSA Z462 Workplace Electrical Safety, and CSA M421 Use of Electricity in Mines
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical principles, including those for power distribution, low & medium voltage, PLCs, AC motors and drives
  • Demonstrated experience in an Industrial setting
  • RETScreen, Office Suite, SCADA (Wonderware), DCS (Foxboro) Schneider PME and ITT Network experience desired
  • Knowledge of Arc Flash Studies and implementation as well as knowledge of VFDs and associated software
